Tommy Battle, 52, was elected as mayor on October 7th, 2008. Mayor Battle had been serving his community as a volunteer, church member and small businessman leading up to his service as mayor.
Mayor Battle previously served on the Huntsville City Council from 1984-1988. A commercial real estate developer, he served on various local boards including the Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc. board, EarlyWorks children's' museum board and the administrative council of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mayor Battle has been married to the former Eula Sammons for over 19 years and they have one son, Drew, who is a banker with Regions Bank in Birmingham, Alabama.
